Hi! I work in security and can tell you that anything is _possible_ although the likely cause was someone attempting to hack into your computer (while you where connected) or you may not have had all the required security updates installed on your computer (causing a virus infection to propagate to your laptop).

The best advice I’d give is to install a firewall (or use the one that comes with Windows) have an up to date antivirus program (McAfee, Symantec, AVG etc.) and always run & install Windows Updates at least once a week

The easiest way to get your laptop back might be to reinstall all the software from the DVD that came with your laptop.

I hope you have backups of all your important documents?!

Right. I enjoyed your review, but of course there’s something to say about Oliver Stone’s style: his movies are frenetic, relevant and in-your-face, and the speed at which he created this one exhibits the same chaos that has existed under the Bush administration.

I agree that W. would just not have felt as strong if it was to be released later and/or have a higher budget. I thought it had a simple but sad feel that it focused on the fact for so much of his life he just wanted to make his poppy proud of him, but I wonder if Oliver Stone ended the movie before W. really started to become unpopular on purpose.

I agree that the film was a little premature, but I guess Oliver Stone couldn’t pass up the chance to submit his critique of one of the most controversial and least popular presidents in our history while he was still in office. I haven’t seen it yet, but I have a suspicion that I already know how it will play out. All in all, I assume the whole project sounded better in theory than in practice.

I grew up in the shadow of this site, and although I have grown away from both the city and Christianity, Mr. Greco’s life’s work has left an indelible mark on my psyche. So many of these websites chronicling the site’s demise describe it with words like “kitsch” or act out their anger at Church through reveling in this place’s ruins, completely ignoring the fact that this is all that is left of the personal vision of “heaven on earth” as dreamed by a man who actually walked the walk, and who had an enormous amount of heart.

It makes me sad to see Holy Land fall into the state it is now. It makes me even sadder to see people gloating over it.

But, as you say, I feel deeply compelled to document the place, and have begun writing/drawing a graphic novel centered on the site. I only wish that when I was a kid I’d had the foresight to take pictures of it in its heyday, because it’s really hard to find reference photos of anything except destruction.

But, anyway, thank you for this.

thank you for touching upon this topic. perusing the grounds of holy land is one of the most memorable experiences i’ll probably ever have. i pray to god, and the 50-foot cross itself, that it never gets ‘torn down’… OPERATION: SAVE HOLY LAND!

The glo pillow may not be the cheapest item around right now, but it’s still gotta be cheaper than the $600 iphone. I’d choose the glo pillow over the iphone any day.
